What is it?
Kambo is a therapeutic procedure developed by several indigenous tribes of the Amazon. Waxy secretions of the giant leaf frog, Phyllomedusa bicolor, are applied to lymphatic channels via small burns in the skin, inducing a powerful purge and wide range of physiological and emotional benefits. It is traditionally used in the jungle as a routine immune booster, anti-malarial, fungicide, dewormer, as well as a performance enhancer for hunters.
Peptides
Phyllomedusa bicolor have no natural predators and its secretions are not classified as a venom or toxin. This waxy substance consists of highly bioavailable peptides with a 24hr half life-- meaning-- they are quickly recognized and absorbed by the body and safely broken down into protein.
Safety
Kambo is safe for most individuals under supervision of a trained practitioner, however, it is a difficult process to be taken with respect. Risks involve the monitoring of electrolytes and fluid balance, strong effects on blood pressure and heart rate, and careful recovery in the event of fainting.
Kambo is contraindicated with
-
certain prescription medications and recreational substances
-
recent ceremony with iboga or bufo 5- MEO- DMT
-
certain preexisting heart, liver, kidney, or connective tissue disorders
-
history of heart failure or stroke
